Spring Break Fun

We've had ourselves a week full of Spring Break fun! We haven't done tons of out-of-the-ordinary stuff, just enough to keep us from getting bored and going crazy. It's been nice to have a low key week and to do a few special things. Warning: Picture overload below!

We went to Game Time in Covington for the first time ever. Garrison was very apprehensive to start with... as he is with most new things, but once he got his bearings, he had a ball. Baby brother just enjoyed hanging out and watching... and having his mid-morning bottle.

We also spent some time outside.

Yesterday we had a special indoor egg hunt. We're slowly working on learning lowercase letters, so that's what was inside each of his eggs. (Except we only did 9 letters.)
Before he opened his eggs, we lined up "scrabble" Cheez-Its and then matched the lowercase letters in the eggs to the uppercase letters on the Cheez-Its.
"T!" He's finally learned that one I think

After we matched all the letters, he got to open the biggest egg which contained a special treat... jelly beans. And they were the Jolly Rancher kind. Yum.
Then today, we made our now-annual Easter egg oreo balls. Last year he really enjoyed himself so we've decided it should be a new tradition. This year we crushed the oreos the night before so we wouldn't wake Austin up doing it this morning.

Austin was awake and playing with big brother's tape measure by the time we needed to dip our oreos. He wasn't super impressed. I ended up moving him to his jumpy seat until we finished. And by the time we did finish, he didn't appreciate being left out. Next year should be a big adventure!

Now we're packing and getting ready for Easter weekend, plus celebrating Granna's birthday. We're also reflecting on the sacrifice Jesus made for us and counting our blessings. Garrison doesn't quite get it yet, but it's still nice to share the Easter story with him and remind him of the true meaning of the holiday. Happy Good Friday!
