This weekend was mostly full of fun for the 5 Selph's! We had a few low moments too but we're choosing to focus on the good and happy as we kick off this new week. =)
Friday night my mom came over to keep Layton while we took our big boys to the Trojan football game. Papa, Nana, and Pops also went to the game so it was a family affair. While I would've loved to have made a picture of my bigs cheering on our Trojans, it just wasn't meant to be. Austin Selph was very nervous and apprehensive at the start of the game, mainly due to the crowd and noise level, so he stayed on daddy's shoulders behind the back row for the first several minutes we were there and had absolutely NO interest in coming to sit down with us. Finally, Terrell was able to talk him into joining the rest of us and sitting to watch the game... so he sat in my lap almost the whole time... and my legs turned numb but at least my baby felt safe and started to enjoy the game and actually cheered! He even asked 247 total questions while we were there. Ha. We scored first and kept things close right to the very end before giving up the lead and falling to one of our biggest rivals. It must be noted however, that this particular rival isn't even in our region as they are a bigger school than us and we weren't given a chance in this game. I'd say we scared them good for 3.5 quarters. So yay.
Saturday morning was a fun one as Garrison had his first soccer game of the season! And he did amazing!! The team we faced wasn't super competitive so we haven't really been challenged yet, however, it was good game to warm us up and get us off to a great start to the season.
He played goalie some...
Defender the majority of the game...
And forward the end of the game...
He scored two goals and did great as a defender and as goalie. And his biggest fan watched and cheered the whole time!
After leaving the soccer fields we picked up some lunch to take home and after lunch we cleaned up a little and then had rest time before Terrell and I got ready for our date. We dropped the boys off with Nana and Pops and headed for the movies!! It should be noted this was our first movie to go see in 2-3 YEARS. Haha. It's just extremely rare a movie comes out that we both want to see AND that we have an opportunity to actually go see. Dinner and a movie is time consuming and expensive and just not high on our list of priorities... until this one. War Room.
Our date was wonderful and the movie was amazing. Soooo good. If you can, go see it. It's about the power of prayer and fighting the enemy, not your spouse (or your parent, child, boss, co-worker, fill in the blank). It was just so good. Our theater was packed and felt a little like a church service. I highly, highly recommend it.
And, I must say how grateful I am to my husband for making this date possible. Funds are low, Georgia football is in full swing (and he missed the game for me!! Talk about sacrificial love! =)), things are busy, baby-sitters have been needed lots lately, etc, etc. But all of our "people" had been recommending this movie and since we hardly ever, ever go to the movies I really wanted to prioritize going to see this one. And we had a Long Horn gift card for dinner! So my wonderful hubby made it possible and we had a great time. We laughed a lot and cried a little and have been praying something serious since the movie ended. Go see it if you can!
Sunday was up and down... we had a rough start to our morning, a great time at church, the best afternoon, and then a really rough evening. I managed to get lots of pictures of our afternoon outside though because it was just the best. The weather was perfect! This weekend's Fall preview was wonderful!
Lots of soccer playing for our bigs...
And rides for our littlest...
Plus some grass cutting...
And rides for our big boys too...
Of course Layton begged to ride and then begged to get out as soon as we let him ride...
Then we decided to head for the playground. A favorite for everybody.
We had such a fun afternoon together as a family enjoying the weather and each other! Even though this weekend came with some lows, I'm super thankful for all the good and happy! We may have shed some tears but we laughed and had fun way more!! It's was an overall great one. =)
