Christmas Lights Scavenger Hunt

Even though we've been super sick and it's made for a wild and challenging week before Christmas, we managed to sneak in one of our favorite traditions of the season last night... our annual Christmas lights scavenger hunt! ☺

This is a quick recap of our evening because this year, Christmas wrapping and cleaning of my house and anything I normally would've already done by now, still needs to be done. So mama is on a mission to be productive and get lots accomplished today before we kick off all of our fun festivities tomorrow on Christmas Eve Eve!

The boys requested tacos for supper last night and since I'm back to cooking and appetites have returned, I obliged and we had a yummy supper before getting ready for our big hunt.

Traditional pics in front of the tree before setting out! (My mom found their pajamas and I think they're pretty perfect. Especially given the volume of our household. Ha!)

After pictures we loaded up in the car with snack bowls, Bingo sheets, clipboards, pencils, and flashlights. Plus 3 excited boys!

They get to eat their snacks on the way into town and then we park and pass out the clipboards of Bingo sheets once we're ready to get started. We all look for items together and call out what we see in a big team effort to black out the Bingo card.

And we almost did it! This year we couldn't find a Gingerbread man anywhere in our small town. We'll keep looking through the weekend though. ☺ We found our toughest items here in our own neighborhood which we always save til last anyway.

We all had a great time and considered this year's hunt another success!

I do think that next year we'll take a different approach and go to a specific location full of lights instead of driving all over town in search of everything. In a small town, it's just hard finding everything without driving around half the night. Haha. The boys enjoyed it and never complained but I think we're ready for a change next year. So it should be pretty exciting doing something new.

We're all looking forward to a super fun weekend and lots of celebrations, good food, gift giving, and family time. So thankful God sent His Son!! Merry Christmas from our family to yours!!
