SGI 2018: Part 1

We are home from another wonderful summer week at our favorite beach and island. It was beautiful, it was blissful, it was our own version of perfect. The Selph 5 version. Full of laughter, loudness, craziness... and sand, sun, and sea. 😊 We loved and enjoyed our week away.

Here's part 1 of the recap...

On last Saturday morning we set off for St. George Island, Florida!

We had a really great drive down and the boys did awesome. Yay for a big car and DVD players! Haha! My parents followed us along with the puppy dogs and we arrived right at check in time to our beach house.

Once we had unloaded the cars and settled in a little we went straight to the beach! I think all 7 of us were beside ourselves. The beach is our favorite. (This year we decided to forgo a pool.... since we have our very own now it didn't seem like a must-have this year and helped us widen our search a bit. And I think the week without a pool turned out just fine!)

Now that the boys are a little older we pretty much always swim on arrival day. They are itching to get in the ocean and it's a fun way to kick off the vacay. This year was no different. All 4 of my guys enjoyed some ocean time Saturday afternoon.

On Saturday night we ate my mom's homemade BBQ that she makes ahead of time and we may have fed the seagulls a little something too. What can I say? They adopted us. 😊

Good morning Sunday!
On Sunday morning the boys were up around 6:30 so we got an earlier start than we bargained for. Haha. Staying in a small beach house made things interesting. Or should I say challenging? They're just so loud. Sigh. But we managed and things got a little better as the week went on.... they slept later, we eventually let them use iPads during down time, etc.

We had great weather almost all week. We got to enjoy the beach and ocean every single day. The waves were big and occasionally rough, but we never had to avoid the water and never had a rainy day. It was one of our best weeks of vacation weather-wise. YAY!!

The boys look forward to playing baseball against their daddy and Papa every vacation and this year they added a team member in Layton Thomas. They made sure to get in a game before lunch on Sunday and had a blast.

Layton eventually decided to try out the ocean a little more. He wasn't super confident about it at first but it didn't take him long to come around and want to be in the water constantly.

Our view was one of my favorite parts of every single day. The ocean, the sand, the sky, the breeze. It's all such a gift from our Heavenly Father. His creation is amazing.

Sunday afternoon we stayed out late and mama got talked into pitching batting practice. #everybodyelseturnedthemdown Hahaha.

Our biggest dug himself his very own lounge chair to watch from. 😊

And later on he found a starfish while he was swimming in the ocean! We were so impressed. We threw him back of course but loved seeing this sea star up close and personal. It was the coolest find.

We stayed in Sunday night and ordered pizza and had a lazy night at the house. We had a GREAT kick off to our vacay.

I'm hoping to have another recap ready to go tomorrow. 😊 Happy July, Happy Monday!
