We have had a pretty crazy couple of weeks. We've experienced lots of fun and lots of fear, and today we are just especially thankful. Plus drained and completely worn out. Phew. So this is a little update of all we've had going on lately.
The weekend before last was Buggy Days for our small town. It's a fun arts and crafts festival that really kicks off the Fall season for us every year. The boys love it and always get to pick out some fun things to buy and a big favorite is the parade on Saturday afternoon. I love it because of the tradition of it, the homecoming for our town, and because I usually get to pick out something. ☺ This year there was especially lots I loved.
We arrived in town mid-morning and took in all the booths, sights, sounds, and smells before heading over to the caboose so Layton could drive the choo choo. He LOVES a real train. This probably made his day given how excited he was.
Even Piper got in on the fun!
We let the boys pick out some fun toys and ate lunch before Terrell and I headed out of town and the boys got ready for the parade. Garrison loved having a best bud come join him.
And Layton loved the tractors! ☺
While our boys were enjoying Buggy Days with Granna and Papa, Terrell and I were here! Squeal!!! Terrell got Atlanta United tickets for his birthday and we got to go watch them play Orlando along with a record setting 70,000+ other fans!
We had the best time! I think we both definitely want to go back. It was such a cool experience and exciting game. The boys don't know we went without them (we told them we were going on a date... because it was, haha) and once we were there we were thankful we didn't have them with us. It was crazy how crowded it was. And the chants, cheers, and excitement going into the stadium were comparable to a college football game. It was crazy. In a good way. ☺
Don't you love the scarf on the Falcon?!
Mercedes-Benz Stadium was amazing. We were super impressed and wowed! And I loved this wall of high school state champions in Georgia. I must say, Arthur Blank is an awesome owner.
Getting ready for the game! The halo-screen was one of my favorite features.
Atlanta United's starting line-up!
Game time!!
We had SO. MUCH. FUN!! This was one of my favorite dates because the game was so exciting and we both loved every second!! Terrell is a United mega-fan for sure.... and I don't think I'm far behind. Haha! We love our soccer team and had a blast seeing them in person!
We walked to Taco Mac nearby the stadium and enjoyed a great dinner watching college football. ☺ Then we walked back to our Marta station and got one last pretty cool shot of our new, super impressive stadium. I hope we get to go back lots in the future!
Sunday after church we took the boys to Buggy Days for one last run to buy something (with their own money) that they really wanted....
These super-heroes are my favorite!
Sunday night I put out my Buggy Days find! Happy Fall and Happy almost October!!
Garrison Cade is loving AR at his school and reading non-stop it seems! He's also gotten tons of chapter books from the Book Fair this week that he's super excited about. I feel like the new school has taken his love of reading to a new level. This teacher-mama is happy, happy, happy!
Austin has been practicing his sight words lots and I love that Garrison can do this with him from time to time!
At school we've been wrapping up our unit on "Farm" and it's been so much fun. I am loving PreK!!
On last Thursday we had Throwback Thursday at school and my para went 90s all the way! She's having a baby boy in January I thought she looked adorable!
And Thursday afternoon, just a couple of hours after the photo above was taken, is when all the scary began. Our middle man came down with HSP.... which is of course something we'd never heard of and never would've known about unless we experienced it ourselves. What we thought was just a sprained ankle and weird rash was actually something with the potential to be much more serious. After he started swelling in multiple places and the "rash" (which was actually broken blood vessels) spread, we took him to a pediatric after hours and from there were admitted to the hospital. It was a crazy, emotional, and scary chain of events but our family and friends were amazing and supportive. They prayed for us, calmed us down, and made sure our other 2 boys were taken care of.
Austin handled everything like a pro and everyone was smitten with him. No surprise to us. Haha! He is super lovable. ☺ Thursday night they did labs and an iv with fluids and Friday morning we thought we might be looking at another night in the hospital.
But the prayers of so many we answered and we were discharged with some instructions for the weekend on Friday afternoon. Praise the Lord. He was so faithful every single minute.
Saturday morning our other 2 had soccer games so we let Austin go and watch Layton's and I was so thankful I was able to see my baby boy play in his first game!
He was so proud of his fan club at the game and played hard. He's the youngest on his little team and it definitely shows from time to time but overall I thought he did great!!
As Austin started feeling better and better and could do a little more I decided to take my littles out on a date Saturday night. So thankful this sweet boy was feeling so much better!
We went to Walmart so Austin could spend birthday money and then out to dinner with fro-yo for dessert.
We had a really fun time together and most importantly Austin enjoyed getting out and taking a break from laying around!
Our biggest boy was at his very first sleepover having a blast and daddy was home watching the Bulldogs. ☺
This week has been a little more touch and go. We had some concern at Austin's follow-up appointment with his pediatrician and then a rough night on Monday. We actually felt pretty certain we'd be admitted to the hospital again on Tuesday. So much so that we packed our bags! But thankfully we avoided a return trip. Thank you Jesus. He appears to be much better now and is even attempting a half day at school today! HSP is something that just has to be monitored for several weeks so we're trying to keep a close eye on him and slowly get back to normal activities. We are so thankful for the care, concern, and most of all prayers shown for Austin and our family. God has been faithful!
We are all worn out and so ready for our weekend! We're looking forward to a good one! Fall Break is almost here!! Happy Friday!
